"Here is the stuff of which fairytales are made."

The words in the title were spoken by Archbishop of Canterbury Robert Runcie during Prince Charles and Princess Diana's wedding nearly thirty years ago - and they really are true. Even though Princess Diana's and Prince Charles' marriage didn't turn out the way everyone was hoping it to, the wedding itself was something every little girl dreamed of. Well, today another royal wedding took place, and it was beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The New Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning and very much recalled a certain other princess in her inspired wedding dress choice. I hope and pray the happy couple live long, joyful, and prosperous lives. Wills and Kate, we love you!

And now...a look back at one of the happier moments shared between Prince Charles and Princess Diana. Pay attention to the Princess' facial expressions. So cute. :)

All of this Royal Wedding Coverage Gives Me a Fervent Desire to Wear Pastels, Fascinators, Hats and Gloves

Watching all of the before-the-event hype. Simply fabulous outfits on display. Quite excited to see Prince Andrew's daughters and what they wear - and of course, THE BRIDE! In the meantime, I'll appease myself with this lovely photograph.

Desiring all the best for the royal couple...and a cup of tea.

EDIT: The princesses did not disappoint! See photos of Beatrice and Eugenie arriving wearing fabulous Philip Treacy hats here

XOXO,
Kate

"He personally carried our sins in His body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By His wounds you are healed." -1 Peter 2:24

Happy Resurrection Sunday! Jesus died on the cross for you and as you so that you could live a life of total and complete victory. HE took the penalty for your sins so that you wouldn't have to. Rejoice today that you don't have to live in condemnation of what you've done in the past, because through Jesus you have an amazing future! He came so that we would have life more abundantly (John 10:10). Don't allow the enemy to guilt you into not receiving God's best for your life - "For the law was given through Moses, but God's unfailing love and faithfulness came through Jesus Christ (John 1:17)." Your past does not determine your future. So many people know this is true of salvation, but when it comes to further blessings from the Lord, they allow condemnation to hold them back from receiving them. God doesn't withhold any good thing from us if we love and obey Him (Psalm 84:11). So if you've made Jesus the Lord of your life, forget about the sins of your past - God has already separated them from you as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). Shake off that shame and decide that from here on out you'll walk along the path of the righteous, which shines brighter and brighter (Proverbs 4:18).

Color Me Kate

Old Navy espadrille shoes, $17
Proenza Schouler leather handbag, $1,990
Kate Spade gold plated bangle, $55
Kate Spade handcrafted earring, $45

Since my last post was about how much I admire Kate Spade, I thought it would be appropriate for me to showcase a couple of her pieces. First off, the dress is beautiful. Its color-blocking recalls some of Prada's recent work, and the shape is simple enough to handle its bold combination of hues (not to mention flatter nearly every figure.) The bow and cap sleeves are cute, girly touches. The bracelet is also Kate Spade, and I like how it's a bit playful but still sophisticated enough to not distract from the frock. I kept all other accessories subdued, opting for season-appropriate espadrilles, a straw bag, and sweet pearl studs. Have a happy spring and great Resurrection Sunday! :)

Kate Spade Commercial Cuteness

Now that you've met the Hilfigers, I think it's only appropriate that I introduce you to Kate Spade's ad campaign featuring Bryce Dallas Howard. Kate Spade really is one of my favorite designers. The fun and candy-like colors that are always present in her work really pop against the classic and preppy perfection of everything. The girly details are exquisite. I'm being very honest when I say I would personally count it a privilege and  honor to produce collections like hers.
On another note, this video is delightfully appropriate for spring, no?

Argyle Style

MNG by Mango argyle cardigan, $64
Miu Miu pleated skirt, $640
Bertie black shoes, 64 GBP
Yves Saint Laurent summer tote, 845 GBP
Briolette freshwater pearl necklace, $70

Fresh and fun. I like that this adheres to the preppy aesthetic, while the prints give it a certain kooky feel - and I enjoy that in clothes. An argyle sweater is a great thing to have in your closet and the navy featured in this one ties the bag into the outfit very well. The green of the skirt makes the outfit so much more vibrant and the polka dots are show-stopping.

On a side note, Pretty Keen has over 500 views! Thank you all so much and thank You, Jesus!

XOXO,
Kate

Spring is Here!

Untitled

Spring is Here by Pretty Keen

Halogen crew neck top, $44
Halogen 50s style pencil skirt, $59
Kate Spade peep toe slingback shoes, $325
Burberry vintage style handbag, $1,195

It's officially been spring for a little while now and I'm so excited that I can start featuring springy colors on the blog (and in real life). This outfit was originally made for a contest Nordstrom had on Polyvore. Subsequently, I'm pretty sure every item in this post can be found there. Once again nude heels show up, but they have a beautiful flowery touch. The simplicity of the pieces really makes the punchy colors work. I know that I personally would enjoy jaunting about town in a cute little outfit like this.

XOXO,
Kate
