 It's officially been spring for a little while now and I'm so excited that I can start featuring springy colors on the blog (and in real life). This outfit was originally made for a contest Nordstrom had on Polyvore. Subsequently, I'm pretty sure every item in this post can be found there. Once again nude heels show up, but they have a beautiful flowery touch. The simplicity of the pieces really makes the punchy colors work. I know that I personally would enjoy jaunting about town in a cute little outfit like this.

Wardrobe Basics

The quotation above is a  great fashion philosophy to live by. Sticking with the classics and essentials is always an amazingly wise choice when it comes to clothing. Recently I've been trying to think twice before I hop on the trend train and really go for investment pieces instead, and my wardrobe has been thanking me. One benefit of investing in wardrobe staples is that you can work with them and mold them into nearly any look you like. As I've said before, that's really what my blog is all about - putting a new twist on something timeless.

Above are 10 things I consider to be apparel basics. It's not so much about the brand they are but the pieces themselves and their versatility, which will truly last a lifetime. I know the color palate is pretty muted, but neutrals are most flexible. If you could only buy ten things to keep in your closet, it'd be a wise choice to make them these.

Polished and Perfect

Polished and Perfect by PrettyKeen featuring a diamond necklace

 I really like this outfit - the bolero jacket is gorgeous in a very girly but unoffensive shade of pink. I like that the skirt has a softer and more fluid look to it and a bit of detailing - but not too much. I avoided patent leather for the shoes because I wanted to carry the matte look through the entire look. Classic diamond jewelry appropriately compliments this timeless but interesting look. :)

Fresh As a Daisy

A Polyvore creation. Not very sure what it was inspired by, but whilst creating it I aimed for a nude color palette accented by girly and flowry details. YSL bracelet, Juicy Couture and Louis Vuitton rings featured, along with a wedding band. Full product list here. :) Hope you like!
