She's So Stylish: Hailee Steinfeld

She's So Stylish: Hailee Steinfeld
She's So Stylish: Hailee Steinfeld by ShesSoStylish on Polyvore.com

I am super excited to finally do a post about Hailee Steinfeld, because her looks really do exhibit some of the things I aim to reflect in this blog. I first spotted Hailee when I saw photos of the True Grit premiere a while back, and I thought to myself, "Wow, she's a well-dressed kid." Little did I know what was to come. Throughout the entire whirlwind of awards shows and appearances these past few months have brought her, Hailee has continued to steal the spotlight with her grace, beauty, and style -  especially at the Academy Awards (center photo). She stunned in a gorgeous Marchesa creation, which she actually had a hand in designing! Amazing. She was definitely best-dressed pick for the night, closely followed by Michelle Williams. I really think Hailee (as of now) should be christened a mascot of sorts for this blog, because her looks really display what I think is classic with a twist: youthful radiance and interest while maintaining a timeless look.

Ciao!

P.S.: Hailee has already been featured twice as Nylon blog's best-dressed: once here and again here. :)

She's so Stylish: Claudette Colbert in "It Happened One Night"

I'd like to start off by saying I adore Clark Gable. I have ever since I first saw "Gone with the Wind" in fourth grade and always will. He is the quintessential leading man, and his Academy Award win for his role in "It Happened One Night" was well warranted.

And now, my point. Claudette Colbert dazzles in the film as Ellie Andrews, a bratty heiress. Classic clothes are my passion, and I'm always looking for ways to put an interesting spin on timeless silhouettes. Enter Colbert's wardrobe in "It Happened One Night." She wears basically one outfit through the entire movie -as the premise calls for - but she wears it well. Those hemlines. That cardigan. That hat, and those STRIPES! The whole outfit is gorgeously put together. Not to mention her wedding dress. I really do get excited.

And below, the famous "Wall of Jericho" scene featuring Colbert and Gable's perfect clothes. Enjoy.

Love ya bunches,
Kate

She's So Stylish: Esperanza Spalding

Probably the most memorable moment of the 2011 Grammy Awards was when Esperanza Spalding won the Grammy award for Best New Artist, beating out...Justin Bieber. I didn't know who Esperanza was, but I was beyond glad that it had been proven the Grammys aren't a popularity contest (in this case, at least). Winning this Grammy could be one of the best things to happen to Esperanza's career. After her win, I decided to find out what she's all about and what her music sounds like. Needless to say, I was astonished at how talented she is. Her voice is marvelous and buttery smooth. She's an instrumentalist, which is a refreshing quality for a young women in the music industry these days to have. Plus, the music she plays is superb. If her win does for other people what it did for me, many will be benefiting from her music for years to come.
And another thing: she knows how to wear clothes. Nylon Magazine's blog has already featured her as "best dressed." She is so beautiful, and possesses a gorgeous mane. Her outfits have an effortless appeal to them and are amazing - she looks good without seeming as if she's trying too hard. And, as proven in the video below, the girl can accessorize. I'm really liking that scarf.
Love,
Kate
